 
From its inception in 1995, the Child & Family Research Institute has seen steady growth in funding.
The 2008/09 total revenue of the Child & Family Research Institute (CFRI) was approximately $55.3 million, of which $41.5 million was external funding including grants, contracts and agreements received from foundations, granting agencies and organizations, government contracts, hospitals,
universities, Canada Foundation for Innovation and British Columbia Knowledge Development Fund. More than 160 agencies contributed to external funding in 2008/09, and these agencies are recognized in CFRI's Annual Report.
Approximately $13.8 million in internal funding was
received from BC Children's Hospital Foundation, University of British Columbia (UBC), Sunny Hill Foundation for Children and the Children's &
Women's Health Centre of British Columbia, an agency of the Provincial Health Services Authority. An additional $5.4 million was provided by UBC for
CFRI investigator salaries.
