Pharmacy Services

The Research Coordinator for Pharmacy:

  • Sets up pharmacy services to support individual research studies, including design of randomization tables and patient logs, placebo and study drug preparation procedures, medication records, general inventory control of study medications and disposition of unused study medications
  • Assists with study costing and invoicing
  • Liaises with investigators & study coordinators for site visits, medication accountability, record keeping and quality assurance checks
  • Liaises with other pharmacies and/or institutions involved in multi-centre trials, as required

Time is required to review a research protocol and to be able to discuss and clarify the required pharmacy operational requirements (including providing budget estimates). It is always appreciated when investigators allow 2-3 weeks for this process.

Average costs associated with common services provided by Pharmacy for clinical studies are outlined in the attached Pharmacy Fee Schedule ( Word 32K).
