Histology and Imaging
Histology Core Lab
The Histology Core Lab recently purchased a new tissue processor that can process up to 300 samples at one time. This new processor has 15 reagent bottles which are designed for less evaporation. The core lab is located in room A4-132 of the new translational research building. In addition to the new tissue processor, the lab is outfitted with state-of-the-art automated equipment that provides fast turnaround times.
| The Histology Core Lab provides: |
- Histology consumables (blades, slides, chemicals)
- Training on core lab equipment
- Protocol optimization
- Troubleshooting advice
- Do-it-yourself services
- Free equipment booking
|
| The Histology Core Lab services are performed by Dr. Bao Ping Song.
She offers a wealth of pathology knowledge to the research community. To drop off your samples, visit room A4-132 or call 604.875.2000 ext. 5699. |
Imaging Suite: One Stop Microscopy Shop
Located on the fourth floor in the new CFRI building at A4-110, CFRI’s Imaging Suite is designed to provide dark workspaces for sensitive and precise microscopy imaging techniques. The Imaging Core Lab has bundled five powerful microscopes and one image data analysis work station to provide CFRI investigators with a centralized imaging shop.
| The innermost suite houses four unique microscopy stations: |
- The DeltaVision High Resolution Live-cell Deconvolution Fluorescence Microscope
- Olympus FV500 Laser Scanning Confocal Inverted Microscope
- Olympus BX51 Fluorescent Upright Microscope
- Zeiss Axioplan2 Fluorescent Upright Microscope
|
The middle suite houses the popular Olympus BX61 Fluorescence Upright Microscope. It is best for multi-channel labeled fluorescence slides automated image capture along the X, Y and Z axes.
The outermost suite houses image data processing and analysis PC with ImagePro 6.2. |
To receive training or book time on any of the microscopes, visit the Imaging Suite in room A4-110, email Dr. Jingsong Wang or call 604-875-2000 ext. 7564.
The Histology and Imaging Core Facilities are funded by BC Children’s Hospital Foundation, Child & Family Research Institute, Canada Foundation for Innovation, BC Knowledge Development Fund, University of British Columbia.
