The Child & Family Research Institute is situated on the 46-acre campus of the Children's & Women's Health Centre of BC (Children's & Women's). Children's & Women's is comprised of three leading-edge health care organizations: BC Children's Hospital, BC Women's Hospital and Health Centre, and Sunny Hill Health Centre for Children, agencies of the Provincial Health Services Authority.

This close proximity affords our researchers access to the largest maternal-fetal-newborn clinical service in Canada. Children's & Women's has more than 400 in-patient beds, and is the major referral centre in BC for acutely ill or injured children. More than 20,000 women are seen annually through our specialized women's health programs.

CFRI is it the largest research institute of its kind in Western Canada in terms of people, productivity, funding and size. The Institute has both 'wet bench' laboratory and 'dry lab' clinical research areas, and other areas to facilitate particular areas of research and training, such as animal care facilities, a stores facility, education centre and a study centre.
