"The Score" Airs on CBC
The musical drama “The Score,” reviewed as one of the best ten movies at the latest Vancouver International Film Festival, had its television premiere on January 12 on CBC’s Opening Night. “The Score” is the product of a unique collaboration between the worlds of science and the arts. The film is based on the award-winning play of the same name that was originally commissioned in 2000 from Electric Company Theatre by Dr. Michael Hayden, Director and senior scientist at CFRI’s Centre for Molecular Medicine and Therapeutics (CMMT).
Dr. Hayden offered the theatre team unrestricted access to his CMMT lab and students in order to obtain a realistic sense of the laboratory experience. He and his colleagues also provided research advice and consultation on the film. The film was produced by Vancouver’s Screen Siren Pictures for CBC’s Opening Night, the pre-eminent performing arts slot on TV. Genome Canada also provided financial support. |
