Grant Application Processing
The Research Services Office of the Child & Family Research Institute (CFRI) coordinates the processing of all applications or requests by investigators for external funding for research and other projects. These applications require signatures by the Faculty of Medicine and Director of Research Services, University of British Columbia (UBC).
Required Signatures
All applications through the UBC Faculty of Medicine must have be accompanied by a Faculty of Medicine Cover Sheet. All applications or proposals for external funding for research and other projects must be signed in the following order by:
- The Principal applicant and co-applicant(s)
- Academic Department Head or the on-site Departmental Designate
- Dr. Jan Friedman, Acting Associate Dean (Research), UBC Faculty of Medicine (or designate)
- Dr. Martin Kirk, Director, Office of Research Services, UBC (or designate)

With all proper documentation, the Research Services Office will coordinate the collection of the final two signature listed above.

For the most current UBC Research Services Grant Information Form and Faculty of Medicine Grant Cover Sheet please visit the UBC Office of Research Services website.
To avoid any delays with your grant application, please ensure you include the original plus one copy of the following:
- Grant application cover sheet
- Title page
- Signature page
- Abstract or summary of proposed project
- Budget pages
- Budget justification
- In the case of cooperative projects, letter of support or commitment from collaborating companies or institutions.

This signature policy applies equally to:
- Funding requests for new projects
- Requests for renewal or supplemental funding for existing projects
- Requests made by letter or by written proposal as well as those prepared on pre-printed forms
- All faculty awards and fellowships
- Postdoctoral fellowships
- All graduate or undergraduate scholarships & fellowships that will include a research allowance

Support Awards
Applications for faculty salary support awards have additional
requirements in order to obtain the institutional signatures.
